BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Job Summary

This Business Development Manager — Industrial Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) is responsible for originating and converting industrial opportunities for INTRIX's energy solutions within heating and cooling (HVAC) applications.

This is a hunter + market creation role, focused on engaging directly with C-suite decision makers, identifying energy inefficiencies in industrial operations, and converting them into commercially viable EPC projects that deliver measurable P&L improvement for clients.

The role owns the commercial front-end — from access to decision makers, to opportunity framing, to deal closure. Technical validation and site-level execution are supported by the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Industrial Market Penetration & C-Suite Engagement

  • Identify and penetrate high energy-consuming industrial segments with strong HVAC (heating & cooling) application potential.
  • Proactively open doors and engage C-suite stakeholders to position energy optimisation as a business and P&L improvement initiative, not a technical upgrade.
  • Establish early alignment at decision-making level before progressing into detailed solutioning.

Key Outcome: Consistent access to decision makers and creation of high-quality, commercially viable opportunities.

2. Opportunity Qualification, Commercial Framing & Pipeline Build

  • Qualify opportunities based on: decision authority, financial viability, scalability across operations.
  • Translate operational inefficiencies (heating, cooling, process energy use) into clear financial impact (cost savings, margin improvement, cashflow benefits).
  • Build and manage a structured pipeline of decision-maker-led opportunities, not technical enquiries.

Key Outcome: Strong pipeline with clear commercial logic and high probability of conversion.

3. EPC Solution Positioning & Deal Conversion

  • Lead the full commercial process from executive engagement → opportunity shaping → proposal positioning → negotiation → deal closure.
  • Position EPC / retrofit solutions as:
    • OPEX reduction → direct P&L improvement
    • Low / zero upfront capital models
    • Risk-managed performance-based outcomes
  • Drive momentum through disciplined follow-up and clear next-step progression.

Key Outcome: Conversion of opportunities into secured industrial EPC projects.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years experience in industrial business development, HVAC, energy systems, or project-based sales.
  • Proven ability to open new accounts independently, engage C-suite stakeholders, and close long-cycle, high-value deals.
  • Strong understanding of industrial operations, heating & cooling (HVAC) or process energy systems.
